Will I have to share the space with strangers?
No. This is one of the features of Union Hotel that differentiates it from a traditional Bed & Breakfast. The entire space is booked for you and your guests’ exclusive use.

Can I just book a single bedroom?
Yes! Should you only need one or two bedrooms, we are happy to prepare a suite of rooms appropriate for your group size. You will still have exclusive use of the guest spaces, however bedrooms and bathrooms not required for your booking will not be made available.

Is Union Hotel wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, Union Hotel is not wheelchair accessible.
To access the main guest entrance, there is a set of 4 stairs and in order to access the guest bedrooms and bathrooms on the second floor, a larger set of 12 stairs must be climbed.

Are children allowed?
The guest spaces at Union Hotel are filled with your hosts’ many antiques and collectables for you to explore and enjoy. This unfortunately makes the guest spaces not particularly child-friendly and in turn prefer to maintain adult guests only.

Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate pets.

Are smoking or vaping permitted anywhere on the property?
Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere indoors or on either of the covered verandas. Smoking and vaping are only permitted in designated outdoor areas.

Do guests have access to outdoor spaces?
Guests have full access to the Upper Veranda at any time but are asked to adhere to the 10:00 pm noise ordinance.
Access to the back gardens are made available to guests upon request during daylight hours.

Can I host a wedding or an event at Union Hotel?
Yes, however it would have to be a fairly small affair.
Our overnight capacity is 6 guests and allow of a maximum additional 6 daytime visitors for a total of 12 guests.

Can any other meals be accommodated beyond breakfast?
Yes. Should overnight guests require lunch, dinner or snacks during their stay, we will happily prepare additional menu options. Ideally, requests for additional meals beyond breakfast should be made prior to arrival, in order to ensure that necessary ingredients are on hand. We are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies, provided the specifics are provided prior to guest arrival.

Who are our hosts?
Brian was born and raised in Norfolk County, leaving only to pursue a career in education. After nearly 30 years as teacher, instructional leader, and principal in Toronto, Brian returns to Norfolk County to be closer to family and share his passion for the history of Norfolk County.
Having grown up in Northern Ontario, Mark too moved to the city to explore career opportunities, however hospitality was his calling. With a career spanning nearly 30 years in restaurants, hotels and event spaces, nearly 20 of which were with the acclaimed Oliver & Bonacini Hospitality, Mark brings a passion for both food and for making guests feel well taken care.
Together, Brian and Mark strive bring history and hospitality together to provide guests with a uniquely memorable stay.

Do I have to interact with our hosts all the time?
Though always happy to provide historic tours of the hotel or share recommendations for local attractions, your hosts let you decide how much or how little interaction you have with them.
Your hosts reside in separate quarters on the first floor to maintain guests’ privacy, however they are always just a quick text away should guests need anything.

The majority of the photos included on this site were produced by a fantastic photographer named Jim Woods of Oh Jim Photos.
Some are smartphone shots that we took ourselves, and admittedly there are a few that were lifted from the net. If there is any issues with the photos from the web being used, please let us know and we will be sure to remove.
